Fibre Optic Cable is an assembly similar to an electrical cable but instead of being comprised of one or more copper cores, fibre cables contain one or more fibre cores that carry light.
There are two types of fibre optic cable: ‘Single Mode’ and ‘Multi Mode’ that are used for long distance delivery of data and shorter distances respectively.
The main benefits of fibre optic cabling include it being less susceptible to interference as it is made of glass not of copper whilst it also more sustainable for the environment and cheaper to make.
